BallBusters 12- Deweys Clam Bar 11
In what ended a topsy turvy two weeks for your Bachrach BallBusters last night they defeated Dewey's Clam Bar by a score of 12-11 on a walk off grounder to third by Player/Manager Ali "Trash Mouth" McGlincy. After being threatened with banishment from the league earlier in the week due to some past confrontations the BallBusters came out flat once again, if not for the clutch hitting of Chris "Part Time" Papa making his return to the lineup after missing the past two weeks, and the continued hitting of the Ageless Wonder himself Allan "Rubber Arm" Ageman and Nick "The Franchise" Catalano, both hitters are 14 for there last 16, then all would have been lost, but instead the Busters rebounded from last weeks loss and scrounged out a win and improved there record to 3-4, keeping there slim playoff hopes alive.
Rumors persisted after the game about Manager McGlincy and her job security. She has lost the locker room, the team is playing in a daze and she has been unable to control The Ageless Wonders famous temper and protect him from league discipline. When asked for comment about her future the players refused comment. Newly minted executive Jeff "The M Train" McLaughlin was not so silent however when asked about McGlincy's future, "She is in a better position then Willie Randolph" he said, not exactly a vote of confidence.
Rumors were abound after the game the unbeknownst to McGlincy, Allan "Rubber Arm" Ageman would be returning to the mound against Doris Dukes next week, McGlincy couldn't be reached for comment but the fact the she was unaware of any impending changes can only add fuel to the fire about her managerial career possibly coming to an end.
Come out and support your BallBusters next Thursday in the park, and if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter!
Notes and Quotes
This morning I had the pleasure of sitting down with Alex "Lets Get a Drink after the Game" Roth and getting her commentary on the state of The BallBusters. She had the following to say, "Maybe its time Oliver Mays went back to the DR and brushed up on his skills, and Scotty also, his fielding isn't what it used to be." When asked about her recurring quad injury she said "Why does it not get better", and when asked about manager McGlincy and her status she said Ali wants me to miss softball to go to this meeting, but I'm not missing the game, I will be there." This further adds to McGlincy's trouble in the locker room, maybe it is time for a change after all.

 BallBusters 11 - Macy's Home Store 4

BallBusters Make it Two in a Row with Relative Ease
Wed night in what was probably their most well rounded performance of the season, your Bachrach BallBusters made it two in a row with a big win over Macy's by the score of 11-4. The early morning news was bleak, with Player Manager Ali "Trash Mouth" McGlincy receiving news that after a long happy life, and a vibrant battle against illness, her beloved dog Sebastian finally had succumbed to death. Ali responded by pitching seven solid innings and leading the BallBusters to victory. They were solid on defense and at the plate and everyone contributed. Newly minted third baseman Allan "The Ageless Wonder" Ageman had a rough go early in the field, taking some time to adjust to his new role, but by the end of the game he looked like the very very old pro that he is and was making plays with ease. Nick "The Franchise" Catalano took the opportunity to flash a little leather of his own with a key putout in the field, and Alex "Let's get a drink after the game" Roth appeared to be injured scoring one of her two runs of the game yet still had the courage to continue playing. As for the rest of the squad, they really have gotten up to speed making the Buster's a force to be reckoned with.
There were two men however who stole the show, Scott "The Babe" Book showed his flashes of brilliance last week were not an aberration going 4-4 at the plate with 6 RBI's, and Jimmy "The Kid" Sammarco, when he wasn't smashing base hits, made some of the prettiest plays in the field, capped by his diving stab and put out at third in the bottom of the ninth. All in all a classic performance from a team that seems to have there stuff together and poised to make a run at the playoffs this year. Next game is Thursday at Randall's Island against The Fighting Gators, a team the Busters defeated last year but went on to the league finals. Come out and support your team, and if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.
Notes and Quotes
Richard "The Boss" Bachrach was conspicuous by his absence, rumors at the field were that he had a prior engagement with the press that he couldn't re-schedule, the family was represented by Evan "Hank" Bachrach, who seemed please by the performance. Alex "Let's Get a Drink After the game" Roth was seen in short shorts at a bar after the game, with a Cosmo in one hand, and using the other to secure a bag of ice over her quad, Oliver Mays seemed disappointed. Evan "The Truth" Price started at DH for the 4th time in five games, showing that perseverance does payoff. Jeff "The M Train" McLaughlin was absent for the second straight week, fueling speculation that manager McGlincy's role as manager might be safe after all. Superfan Bekah "The Grim Reaper" Greenbaum has been banned from attending any future BallBuster games for an undisclosed violation, intriguing indeed.

New Formula Equals New Results
Like the famous line of the late Heather O'Rourke from Poltergeist, the BallBusters are indeed back. Last night your Bachrach BallBusters defeated the club from BNP Paribas by a score of 17-7.  They came out swinging and never looked back. After getting off to an 0-3 start it was time for a shake up, and a shake up there was. Player/Manager Ali "Trash Mouth" McGlincy took the mound and Allan "The Ageless Wonder" Ageman moved to third base in what proved to be a recipe for success. McGlincy had 5 strikeouts including striking out one BNP batter 5 times making him look worst then former BallBuster Laurence "Larzo" Wilson, and the Ageless one had 4 putouts at 3rd base although the glove of Nick "The Franchise" Catalano had to bail him out on a couple of occasions.
As for the bats Jimmy "The Kid" Sammarco proved he is comfortable in the leadoff spot with a lead off homerun which he followed up later with a three run shot, and Scott "The Babe" Book looked like his 06' prototype hitting shot after shot into right field much to the chagrin of the BNP outfielders. The girls you ask, Tara "Almost White Shoes" Horowitz showed last week wasn't a fluke continuing her torrid hitting, and Kerry "I Peed in the Woods" Gustin added an RBI and her first hit of the season as well. The best part of the victory you ask. Evan "The Truth" Price had zero errors in the field, sure he only dh'ed but it was a vast improvement over last week.
Next Wed your BallBusters look to make it two in a row as they play one of the 13 teams from Macy's in Central Park. If you can't be an athlete be an athletic supporter.
Notes and Quotes:
Richard "The Boss" Bachrach was so pleased after the game that he had this to say "Ms. McGlincy is my manager and is here to stay. Three games can not make up for two full seasons of success. I fully expect this team to continue there winning ways and her to lead us to many more victories this season, this is what the Bachrach family and the great employees of Bachrach industries expect and deserve."
Alex "lets get a drink after the game" Roth made her second straight start at catcher and is officially out of options, she can no longer be traded or demoted. Rumor was that the before mentioned Almost white shoes and I peed in the woods, did just that, peed in the woods......

The Price Wasn"t RIght

by nick 5/5/2008 3:05:00 AM

Friday night in what might be viewed as the last nail in the coffin for the BallBusters 08 season the BallBusters lost to McRoberts in the last inning of a game shortened by dark by a score of 8-7. The BallBusters played there hearts out and left it all on the field and still came up short. The bats came alive Nick "The Franchise" Catalano and Scott "The Babe" Book seemed to awaken form there early season hitting slumber, though in the field the Franchise left some question and speculation as to whether Evan "The Truth " Price should be out there instead. Oliver Mays was 2 -3 after be calling out on strikes and nearly thrown from the game, and Tara "I Have Arrived" Horowitz went 3-3 with three line drive singles, Jimmy "The Kid" Sammarco had both his bat and glove primed and was back to old form. Allan"The Ageless Wonder" Ageman showed why he still belongs on the mound with his strongest performance of the young season. The story of the game however, Evan "The Truth" Price forced into duty once again as DH handled the bat like a true champion with three RBI'S, but then his luck changed. With the BallBusters up 7-5 in the top of the fifth and last inning, The Truth was called out for taking a lead at first base, at the time his run didn't seem important, but that would change in the bottom of the inning. Matt "Don't call me Matty" Rundle asked out of the field for his inability to see in the dark, and The Truth trotted out to RF with trouble on his mind from the inning before. One quick out and 2 base hits later. First and second and 1 out, BallBusters up by 3, and then it happened, a lazy fly ball to right field, Evan"The Truth" Price, COME ON DOWN, he confidently got under it the ball landed in his glove to cheers, until out it fell and the hit parade began. The next batter was out and would have ended the game, and then McRoberts got the big two out hit they were waiting for, burying the BallBusters hopes, and likely there playoff chances. Big game this week at Randall's Island,  if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.
Notes and Quotes
Player manager Ali McGlincy was conspicuously absent from the field and dugout, further fueling speculation she was released from her contract, though no official announcement has been made by the team or team management. Once again patrolling the sidelines in his suit was The "J" Train Jeff McLaughlin looking very managerial and inspiring the BallBusters the way McGlincy of old used to with her cussing and spitfire ways. More news once it is available.
