Last night your Bachrach BallBusters lost on opening night to a team called Solus by a score of 7-6. It was a typical opening day BallBuster performance, lots of mental mistakes, some untimely errors, and some lack of clutch hitting, but all in all the promise was there and the future looks bright. I walked in this morning to some people who will not be named talking a bit about the lineup or the in game decisions that were made, or the errors. I will say this, this line up has lead the BB's to the playoffs 4 out of 5 years. Our manager lead us to the playoffs in his first year last year. We have many rookies and new players this year who will hopefully add depth and strength to an already powerful roster, but one game is no reason to hit the panic button. The Hallmark of the BB's is consistency.
First off I would like to welcome our newbies. Matt "The NEW Babe, Born Again" Conroy, who has proven to be probably our strongest new ballplayer with a bat and a quiet professionalism to his game that has been sorely missed by this club, Larry "The All American" Villar who played a stellar SS and showed flashes of brilliance with his bat, Jason "String Bean" Taxier, who proved that those skinny legs don't break when he exerts himself, Jeff "NEW Trash Mouth" Segal, who can both run his mouth and his legs, he is fast boy, but if only we could teach him to recognize how many outs there were he might have a future on this team, you can only run on anything with two outs Jeff, good rule to live by. And finally the two ladies, the lovely Julie "people love to coach me on the sidelines" Rodrigues, who adds yet another talent to the most talented group of female ball players in the league, and of course making her triumphant return, Tara "T-Dinero" Horowitz, whose bat and glove have not been hurt by her long vacation, it was good to have her back on the field standing next to me.
At the end of the day the game but not hope was lost. We did not lose because of the errors in the field. I will take the blame for this loss solely on my large, bulky shoulders. With a chance to tie the game, runners on first and second and two out, the mighty Franchise came to the plate. A base hit ties the game, anything else give us the lead, and yours truly hit a weak grounder to the pitcher, ending the rally and the game. The Franchise, never one to run had this to say, "I let the team down plain and simple, opening day jitters and some changes in the lineup rattled me, I assure you the same mistakes will not be made again, it is a long season."
The future is bright my friends, so if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.
